This semester I am in a Marriage and Family Relationships class. I am actually really excited about it but i learned some pretty crazy stuff today.
The first crazy thing is that 50% of all marriages in the end with divorce. Not only that, but people have "starter marriages" to just try out marraige and get used to it. Then they move on to someone who they think they could have children with. Then, after the kids are all grown up they get divorced and live alone for a while. Then they have a fling with someone who is rich because they are rich and settled on their own, so why not get married? THEN they get divorced and later decide they need to settle down with someone and find someone they want to grow old with (like they aren't already old enough). It was amazing to me. But that's the world today.
Here is the really crazy part: 45% of all LDS Temple marriages end in divorce. Last time I checked, that was only 5% less than the rest of the world. That was pretty amazing to me. But our teacher showed us a little chart and LDS Temple marriages have been steadily increasing in divorce because the world has increased divorces.
My heart goes out to people who have to suffer through a divorce. I can't imagine that it would be fun to go through.
But this class discussion also made me so grateful for my marriage. I love my husband so much and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
So here is my picture for the day.
